Meditation is a naturally occurring state of consciousness.
Your job is important…but your body is too!
What does that mean? Did any one teach you how to sleep? To dream? To be awake? No.
Waking, dreaming and sleeping are naturally occurring states of consciousness.
So also is Meditation.
How Can Meditation Be Easy?
Though sleeping naturally occurs, without the proper conditions it does not. If you are on an overnight flight you go into a restful state but you don't lose awareness.
The act of sitting upright keeps you from losing awareness completely thus you feel you are not able to fall asleep completely.
Though Meditation naturally occurs, without the proper conditions it does not. The proper conditions for meditation are sitting upright with eyes closed. No one does this naturally.
If we get a spare minute we always occupy ourselves with something. It is very rare to find someone just sitting with eyes closed. When you sit upright with eyes closed meditation happens. You go into a state of restful alertness. The very same reason you are not able to fall asleep on the plane is the same reason you are able to meditate.
The state of restful alertness is the meditative state of consciousness.
